??? Private or Public Worship ???

Private Worship

Eph 5:19-20

19. Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

20. Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; KJV

Public Worship

Col 3:16-17

16. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

17. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. KJV

Many of us worship God in private more freely than what we worship Him in public. Example: Corporate Worship.

We tend to be restrained and worried about:

  • What people will think?
  • What if they don’t understand?
  • What will they say about me?
  • Can I turn someone off from God?

True worship will always show God as reachable. God is not so far away that He can no longer reach us. We reach to Him through our worship of Him. He is due all the praise and worship we can give Him and more. People on the outside of this knowledge are longing to feel God’s touch. As they begin to experience God’s loving presence they will begin to understand. We worship God not as a show to others but as an outward sign of our love for God. If someone is going to be turned off by how you express your love to God, they have already made up their minds about it ahead of time. Those who hunger for a true change in their lives and relationship with their Maker will only be more encouraged to seek out ways to get closer to Him when they see you basking in God’s presence.

 God’s Word tells us; “psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing….” Both to ourselves and to one another.

Thus Private & Public Worship.
